Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. Omron’s SX-4 Optical Subassembly Wins Prestigious Award At CEATEC Japan

Omron Electronic Components LLC won an award for their SX-4 Optical Subassembly in the Networking Technology Category during CEATEC JAPAN 2008 (held in Makuhari Messe September 30th to October 4th). “Lossless transmission of high definition audiovisual streams in the home is now possible thanks to Omron’s HDMI + Fiber transmission solution. Traditionally, transmitting audiovisual streams over long distances has required range-limited wireless or re-encoding to low-bitrate video for network transmission. Omron’s solution uses cost-effective fiber and transmits the stream with no loss using HDMI and fiber connectors. This enables compatibility with practically any CE or AV device in the home,” said judging panel member Auri Rahimzadeh who is the CEO and Senior Analyst of T.A.G & Director of Envisioneering Group. This independent advisory panel, assembled by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) San Francisco, viewed hundreds of technologies, services and products debuting at CEATEC JAPAN 2008. They identified exhibitor technologies based on innovation and potential influence in the U.S. market in categories ranging from home entertainment, mobile phones, transportation technologies and technology components. Omron was one of the twelve category winners.

The SX4 is a multimode TOSA/ROSA that allows four isolated channels on one multi-mode fiber and is designed for transmission over 100m of 62.5µm multi-mode fiber or 300m of 50µm multi-mode fiber up to 3.125Gbps. It is scalable to 8 channels and allows bi-directional operation with its integrated laser driver, TIA and Amp.

“It is certainly an honor for our SX4 to be recognized by the CEATEC panel as a technology that should show some sort of influence, relevance or potential impact for the United States market,” said Cami Marsh, Marketing Communications Coordinator of Omron Electronic Components LLC.
