In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

Big Success with the Performance Evaluation of the New 5.9 GHz Tolling Technology from Kapsch TrafficCom at the Trial Facility in Denver, Colorado.

STERLING, Virginia, October 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Kapsch TrafficCom U.S. Corp. completed the performance evaluation of its 5.9 GHz DSRC toll trial station in Douglas County, Colorado (near Denver) with extraordinary success. The U.S. subsidiary of one of the leading suppliers of electronic toll collection systems (ETC) has been operating a test facility on one of the mainline barrier plazas on the E-470 highway near Denver, Colorado. The Kapsch solution under evaluation is an electronic toll collection system for Open Road Tolling (Multi-Lane Free-Flow). This system was implemented on three southbound lanes alongside an existing toll collection system on the E-470. A nationally known, independent research and development laboratory evaluated the system and determined that the system collected 100 percent of more than 10,500 DSRC samples.

"The successful performance evaluation confirms our conviction that 5.9 GHz technology will revolutionize the toll landscape in the U.S.A. due its numerous benefits over legacy DSRC technologies currently in use. Providing world-class tolling solutions coupled with this 5.9 GHz technology will provide a compelling value proposition to U.S. toll road operators. The U.S. is by far the largest single tolling market in the world with significant potential for growth. We decided to install one of the first 5.9 GHz DSRC test stations in the U.S., using a test site (E-470) which has generally been made available to qualified vendors to demonstrate their capability," explained Erwin Toplak, President, Kapsch TrafficCom U.S. Corp. "Even though E-470 would neither verify nor support the outcome of any of these trials to retain impartiality and non-vendor preference, we were fortunate to be able to utilize the facilities of E-470 for these tests," Mr. Toplak stated.

The test installation from Kapsch TrafficCom comprised a 5.9 GHz DSRC toll system, equipment for automatic detection and classification of vehicles as well as an Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) video system. To evaluate the performance of the Kapsch 5.9 GHz DSRC toll tag/reader system, a test fleet of 27 vehicles passed the toll station more than 10,500 times. The test vehicles were equipped with Kapsch 5.9 GHz DSRC toll tags and transactions recorded were compared to a count of passages through the toll plaza as recorded by a global positioning system (GPS) data logger. An independent lab performed objective examinations, which concluded that the system recorded 100 percent of more than 10,500 collected samples.
