Cloud Computing is the new buzz word in the technology industry; but even industry insiders don’t agree on exactly what the term means, says Mike Eaton, Founder and CEO of Cloudworks and Atticus Information Systems. While the term definitely sounds like a buzz word, like the term "Web 2.0" I think it's here to stay. It's not so much that a clear definition can't be offered, rather that the market is in its infancy. So, how the idea of cloud computing will translate into services is very debatable. As far as a definition, try the following:

Gartner defines it as, “a style of computing in which massively scalable IT-enabled capabilities are delivered ‘as a service’ to multiple customers using Internet technologies.”
Ie...harnessing a 3rd party's network resources across the internet to provide a service. Sometimes the service is using their PC processing power and sometimes it's to manage some function like CRM.
