SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nimbus Data Systems, Inc., the leader in Sustainable Storage®, today announced that it has marked a major company milestone by shipping over one petabyte (1,024 terabytes) of flash memory in its last month, a record-setting performance that contributed to a 415% sales increase for the company in 2012 compared to the prior year. "We are delighted to have achieved this tremendous milestone," stated Thomas Isakovich, CEO and founder of Nimbus Data. "Shipping over a petabyte of flash memory in the past month demonstrates flash memory's rise as the torch-bearer for next-generation primary storage and Nimbus' technology leadership and operational maturity. We foresee continued rapid adoption of Nimbus Data solutions as the storage industry goes through perhaps its greatest paradigm shift in decades."
Server virtualization, databases, and web-scale applications have IO demands that outstrip the capabilities of antiquated mechanical hard disk arrays. While caching and tiering provide nominal improvement, Nimbus Data's innovations in flash reliability, software features, and capacity scale have enabled many customers to leapfrog the interim "hybrid" arrays and move directly to all-flash. Using patent-pending architecture, Nimbus Data's Gemini flash memory array is the first all-flash solution to achieve 10 year endurance using cost-effective MLC technology while providing no single-point-of-failure and complete unified storage and data protection software.
This announcement comes on the heels of a tremendous year of accomplishments for Nimbus Data during which the company also opened a European headquarters in Heathrow, United Kingdom. Storage Magazine / SearchStorage.com recently named Nimbus Data's Gemini system as a Finalist for 2012 Product of the Year. Info-Tech Research's most recent Enterprise Storage Vendor Landscape Report named Nimbus Data as the key "Trend Setter" and only flash systems vendor in the "Innovator" quadrant.
