Jinni announced today that French telecom operator Bouygues Telecom has signed an agreement to license Jinni’s unique and advanced content discovery solution. The Jinni technology will power a superior user experience with semantic search, browse by mood, and other intuitive discovery features. The service will be offered in French and includes discovery of both international and local French TV series and movies. Bouygues Telecom is leading the French TV market by being the first to offer content discovery to suit users’ personal tastes and moods.
Bouygues Telecom subscribers will be able to find what to watch by plots (e.g. criminal heroes, nothing goes right, fall in love, dishonesty…), moods (e.g. feel good, suspenseful, clever, sincere…), times and periods, places, audiences, styles, and awards.
“We are proud to partner with Bouygues Telecom to bring Jinni’s personalized semantic discovery and Entertainment Genome™ to their impressive market,” said Jinni CEO Yosi Glick. “France is in a prolific period of innovation and introducing revolutionary new products in TV consumption and content recommendation. Bouygues Telecom is a cutting edge telco provider that proactively looks to offer consumers the most compelling entertainment experience. This is a natural partnership between two companies at the forefront of TV experience innovation.”
“Bouygues Telecom always strives to offer its customers rich and innovative experiences. That’s why we are pleased to partner with Jinni in order to include its cutting-edge technology in our ecosystem for the benefit of our customers. Indeed, our goal is for Jinni’s avant-garde approach to enable our customers to get the most enjoyment out of our impressive content offers,” declared Thibaut Keraval, Bouygues Telecom’s responsible for Land and Mobile Service Platforms.
The Jinni technology will be first introduced with a seamlessly integrated second screen tablet app to provide an easy-to-use, quick and entertaining way for users to access and discover new movies and TV series they will love.
The Jinni discovery solution, based on the Entertainment Genome™, has differentiated itself from other engines by taking content analysis and unique user-centric recommendations to the next level. With natural language understanding (NLU) capabilities, Jinni meets the growing consumer demand for a next-generation cross-platform entertainment experience across set-top-boxes, tablets, smartphones, PC’s/Mac’s, Connected TV’s and gaming consoles.
The Jinni solution powers a suite of holistic discovery features that captures all the richness and nuance of human experience and expression. For example, instead of using broad genres such as ‘comedy’ to find a title, users will be able to find titles that are, ‘clever, offbeat and witty with dry humor’.
Jinni is the first and only taste-and-mood based engine powering entertainment discovery. Using content genetics and nuanced understanding of user tastes, the Jinni engine powers a uniquely intuitive and personalized experience that increases content consumption and consumer satisfaction.
The Jinni service is powered by the Entertainment Genome™, containing thousands of genes that are assigned to each title to describe mood, style, plot, setting and more; this is a rich alternative to the usual genre language, which benefits both the quality of the content delivered as well as the intuitive semantic-based user experience. New titles are automatically indexed via analysis of user reviews and synopses, using a proprietary Natural Language Processing solution.
Jinni’s content discovery solution has been voted “Best Product Idea” by CableLabs. Jinni is a Webby Awards honoree, a Red Herring 100 Europe winner, an OnHollywood 100 winner, a SXSW Web Awards nominee, a TechCrunch Europas nominee, a finalist in the 2012 Connected TV Awards for Outstanding Technology Innovation, and was selected as the best movie recommendation engine by CNET and Lifehacker. Jinni provides content discovery and recommendation solutions to European content providers Belgacom, Swisscom and Prisa TV. To see Jinni's award winning engine at work, visit www.jinni.com.
