TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/14/13 -- Switchable Solutions Inc. (Switchable Solutions) today announced additions to its management team and changes to its Board of Directors.
"These organizational developments will enable the Company to rapidly seize expanding opportunities for its clean technology within the global energy sector," commented Mark Badger, President and CEO. Switchable Solutions' groundbreaking solvent system is a uniquely energy efficient and environmentally friendly means of extracting bitumen from oil sands and remediating oilfield sites.
Lowy Gunnewiek has been appointed Chief Technology Officer, succeeding Dr. Eric Kelusky who helped industrialize the Company's technology over the past year. Mr. Gunnewiek comes to Switchable Solutions with well regarded technical capabilities in the energy sector, having formerly served as Global Director of Energy Technology with Hatch Engineering. In addition, he brings Board of Director level experience with early stage innovation companies in the Canadian energy sector. "I am excited about the potential of this unique technology to create higher margins and environmental benefits for the energy sector," noted Mr. Gunnewiek.
Michelle Scarborough, who has served on the Board of Directors of Switchable Solutions since late 2012, will assume the role of VP Business Development in addition to her board position. She has deep roots in the Canadian energy sector as well as the venture capital community. "Switchable Solutions' market driven approach to technology commercialization has garnered significant traction, which I am honored to build upon," added Ms. Scarborough.
Lyle Clarke has been appointed Chairman of the Board, succeeding John Molloy of PARTEQ Innovations who shepherded the Board through the initial stages of corporate development. Mr. Clarke is a founding member of Switchable Solutions' Board and also the Executive Vice President of Stewardship Ontario. The appointment of Mr. Clarke reflects the Board of Directors' regard for his strong governance abilities, as well as his independence. Switchable Solutions is in the process of recruiting additional Directors with experience in the energy sector. "We are rapidly adding structure and depth to the Board to help Switchable Solutions seize its broad reaching strategic potential," concluded Mr. Clarke.
