DENVER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/11/13 -- The Sheraton Denver Downtown's iconic 18-foot tall ballet dancer sculptures are "United in Orange" tutus in support of Saturday's Denver Broncos playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
The five iconic sculptures of ballet dancers, all dressed in orange tutus, orange leg warmers and Broncos headbands, will be in place through the remainder of the Denver Broncos playoff season. The tutus, made from over 40 yards of tulle, were custom made by Tess Trewin, a Sheraton sales associate.
The ballet dancer sculptures were created for the entrance of the hotel by artist Ruth Keller Schweiss, whose works have been displayed in such places as the Tate Gallery in London and the National Academy of Design in New York City. The ballerinas are fashioned out of wire mesh, wire fabric and hardware cloth covered by epoxy clay. The artist described the sculptures as "an uplifting spirit in exultation" and study of grace.
The sculptures are located at the Sheraton's front drive, on the 16th Street Pedestrian Mall at 1550 Court place. For additional information, see www.sheratondenverdowntown.com.
