TEANECK, NJ -- (Marketwire) -- 12/21/12 -- Bringing a strong base of managerial experience to the crossroads of I-95 and I-80, Doug Snavely has been named General Manager of the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe hotel in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Demonstrating a passion for employee satisfaction through the use of strong listening and interpersonal communication skills, Snavely has excelled in leadership during his more than 30 years in hotel management, just one of the areas of expertise which brought him to Marriott's distinctive choice among hotels near George Washington Bridge. Factoring in strategic planning skills, customer service, financial analysis and the ability to successfully lead businesses through change of management and acquisitions, Snavely's qualifications to lead associates at the Teaneck Marriott hotel are backed by a long list of successes during his career in the hospitality industry.
Snavely supports his professional aspirations and skills with those required of a successful hiker. The new general manager was one of the first 1,000 registered hikers to complete the 2,000 mile Appalachian Trail. Utilizing the same tactics that led to successfully completing the hike, Snavely's business acumen is based on financial and logistical planning, physical fortitude, emotional determination, innovation and self belief. Designating self belief as the most important of these attributes, Snavely's climb from his first job at the Omni Parker House in Boston, MA to Food and Beverage Director, Director of Operations, and then to General Manager of hotels across the eastern seaboard is reflective of his buoyancy.
A graduate of Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA, Snavely most recently served as General Manager of the Sheraton Mahwah for Interstate Hotels and Resorts in Mahwah, NJ, where he successfully led the transition and hire of executive and sales teams.
Gathering awards for both himself and the properties he represented along the way, some of Snavely's accolades include New York State Hospitality and Tourism "Stars of the Industry" awards -- one in the area of Community Service for the inclusion of disability employees within the workforce; and two in Guest Relations for developing the Gold Key program recognizing guests and employees, and for customer service innovations with Wyndham's ByRequest Program. Additionally, during his tenure with the Syracuse Marriott in East Syracuse, NY, the property received awards for the Most Improved Service and Most Improved Product after coming through a $7 million brand property improvement plan executed by Snavely.
