BETHESDA, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 12/03/12 -- GetWellNetwork, Inc.®, the leading provider of interactive patient care (IPC) solutions, announced today that the company will implement its GetWellNetwork platform across 21 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers to help engage and empower Veterans in their own care.
"We are incredibly excited and honored to help deliver a new level of patient-centered care to our nation's Veterans," said Michael O'Neil, founder and chief executive officer of GetWellNetwork. "For more than 10 years, we have prepared for opportunities such as this to work in the largest, most important health systems in the world. It's an exciting day for all of us at GetWellNetwork and for Veterans across the U.S."
The GetWellNetwork system will provide Veterans access, using the in-room television, to health education programs as well as information on hospital services, medication information and such entertainment options as Internet access, television programming, movies, video games and music. In addition, the new GetWellNetwork Interactive Patient Whiteboard will be a central communications exchange for identifying care team members, understanding daily activities and discharge goals as well as logging and posting messages.
Outside the patient room, the company's myGetWellNetwork web-based technology will extend access to Veterans' personalized education in ambulatory centers, clinics and their homes on mobile devices.
GetWellNetwork also interfaces with VistA/CPRS so educational content can be customized for each patient and the facility can track and record patient information into its electronic medical record. Patients can also access at bedside My HealtheVet, a free, online personal health record that allows Veterans to see their wellness reminders, view appointments, participate in secure messaging with their healthcare team and access links to federal and veteran benefits.
