SHANGHAI, Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Holding Corporation (NYSE: DAN) today launched the Spicer® Rui Ma™ brand for a new class of transmissions and axles made in China to provide a quality complement to Dana's flagship Spicer brand of technologically advanced drivetrain solutions.
Marketed in China as "Spicer锐马™," Spicer Rui Ma drivetrain solutions provide an optimized blend of product features, performance, dependability, and cost demanded by purchasers of the majority of construction and other off-highway vehicles manufactured in China today.
Developed and produced at Dana's manufacturing facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Provence, China, Spicer Rui Ma transmissions and axles live up to the standards set by the Spicer brand for more than a century. Spicer Rui Ma products are engineered to perform effectively throughout the entire life of the vehicle through Dana's considerable ongoing investment in research and development; comprehensive simulation, bench, and field testing; and exacting requirements for suppliers.
The initial Spicer Rui Ma solutions offered to Chinese OEMs include the Spicer TZL16 RM powershift transmission for ZL50 front-end loaders, the T08 RM transmission for six- to ten-tonne (6.5- to 11-ton) fork lift trucks, and the T39 RM tridem drive axle for five- and six-axle chassis concrete pump trucks and other heavy-duty vocational applications. Dana will introduce additional Spicer Rui Ma transmissions and axles for the construction, mining, and material-handling industries in the coming months.
"Over our 20 years of collaborations with Chinese OEMs, Dana has developed a deep understanding of the unique demands of this market through our continually expanding product line and manufacturing footprint," said Aziz Aghili, president of Dana Off-Highway Driveline Technologies. "Today's introduction of the Spicer Rui Ma series of drivetrain solutions is a significant advancement in our commitment to supporting all market segments, manufacturers, and end users in the region."
Spicer Rui Ma drivetrain solutions offer clear technological advantages over competitive products traditionally offered to the Chinese off-highway market by drawing from a complete portfolio of technologies that reduce vehicle downtime, extend the working life of vehicles, improve operator comfort, and increase overall productivity.
Spicer Rui Ma is backed by Dana's growing network of engineering, sales support, and aftermarket parts and service teams in China, as well as Dana's global product service and support resources. Dana currently has nine facilities in China that employ more than 8,000 people, including those operations in which Dana holds a shared interest.
This summer, Dana announced the opening of a new aftermarket distribution center in Wuxi to increase product availability, improve delivery times, and provide additional support to its growing number of aftermarket customers.
Early in 2013, Dana will open a 12,000 square-meter (130,000 square-foot) technical center in Wuxi to provide advanced product and applications engineering through research, design, development, and testing of drivetrain, sealing, and thermal-management products.
