STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN -- (Marketwire) -- 11/20/12 -- Radical.FM, the brainchild of internet radio pioneer Thomas McAlevey, today announced the Swedish launch of the most comprehensive music delivery service in the world. Radical.FM combines a full-featured personal broadcasting service (TALK and RadCasting) with curated radio (like Pandora), on-demand playlists (like Spotify) and a powerful distribution channel for indie artists. The full service, including unlimited on-demand streaming with IFPI licensed music from all major recording labels is now live, free and ad-free to all users in Sweden. Radical.FM is also available worldwide with indie content, RadCasting, and TALK -- but without label music. Major label music will be added to the global service in the coming months.
"Radical.FM is the first online music service to offer the human commentary previously found only on terrestrial radio stations," said Thomas McAlevey, CEO and founder of Radical.FM and a pioneer of online radio since creating Tomsradio.com in 1999. "Radical.FM combines the best of today's cutting-edge digital services with the advantages of traditional broadcast radio. We're bringing FM radio into the digital age by providing a platform for professionals and amateurs alike to create their own radio stations and broadcast them to an unlimited audience."
Radical.FM also provides artists the ability to upload and broadcast their independently created material worldwide and complement their transmissions with live voice and video feed. These independent radio transmissions are known as RadCasts, with Radical.FM providing every user a broadcast radio station with legal content. This unique feature addresses a significant limitation of the current online radio market, and catapults 'old-fashioned' radio into the digital age, making Radical.FM the most important new player in the online music industry.
"Radical.FM will change the way online radio is used and perceived," said Christian Landgren, CTO of Radical.FM. "Artists, bands and music enthusiasts alike all get a chance to create a radio station of their very own at no cost. We've built an innovative, highly-customizable listening and broadcasting platform that opens up a new social channel and provides means by which users can express themselves."
Radical.FM also supports independent artists in their quest for monetization and discovery. Independent artists worldwide can claim their own radio station and begin broadcasting immediately to Radical.FM users around the world.
