The ISSJ provider, Barracuda said, its new IM Firewall, will be available by the end of the month. The price starts at around $3000 and the company offers five models. Barracuda said, the new application would cater to upto 7000 users in a single system.

Administrators can also set up a policy so that the system scans and identifies keywords in the IM messages to flag, filter, and block message content that violates company policy. The system comes with its own IM client. Barracuda says that the client is a “zero configuration install.” This means that the users can install it without any complicated set-up processes. The Barracuda IM Firewall client can be used to access secure internal IM and messages sent across all popular consumer IM services like Yahoo, AOL, MSN etc. Barracuda said, the appliance uses a system of roster push tools to seed its own IM client with the details of any contact lists already established by users of these public IM services.
