REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/08/09 -- Rudolph and Sletten announced today that the company has been awarded the construction contract for the San Diego City College's new Science Building. The building will consist of approximately 73,000 square feet of new construction, providing needed classrooms, laboratories, and state-of-the-art technology for life sciences, physical sciences, common areas, and associated support space for the College's growing student population. Students will learn biology, botany, microbiology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, marine biology, oceanography and other life sciences in a new modern state-of-the-art laboratory and teaching space. The Science Building will be one of 14 new instructional facilities or major renovations being built at City College as part of the San Diego Community College District's $1.555 billion Propositions S and N construction program, providing for new teaching and learning facilities, major renovations, and campus-wide infrastructure projects at City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges, as well as six Continuing Education campuses. "The distinctly modern design will add considerably to the overall campus design while providing City College with the opportunity to expand their life and physical sciences curricula," said Renè Olivo, Vice President of Operations for Rudolph and Sletten. "We have an excellent working relationship with the College and look forward to continuing that relationship with this exciting new project." Harley Ellis Devereaux is the architect on the project and should have an approved design by year's end. Construction is slated to begin in early 2010. This project will be the second building that Rudolph and Sletten has managed for the San Diego Community College District.
